If you fancy a break from hill towns and sight seeing then a day at the water park might be exactly what the family would enjoy. Take a picnic, a cuffie (swimming cap) and let the fun begin. There are a selection of water parks close to Santa Chiara.
Umbertide - the public swimming baths in Umbertide has four pools, two indoor, two outdoor and a huge water slide. There is a bar and restaurant and plenty of outdoor space with shade.

Sansepolcro - Easy to get to either by driving or via train from Pierantonio/Umbertide. This water park has a large play area, dive board, two pools and two large slides. A lovely feel to this park but the slides are normally only open from 3pm onwards. Lots of open space and shade for a picnic. Entry is only 5 euros!
Tavernelle - A Fantastic park just south of Perugia with four pools it has something for all ages. There is a heated lagoon for smaller children with clowns that spray water and little slides and hydro-massage area for the adults. For older children and adults there are some pretty good cork screw waterslides and inflatable rings. There is a large grassy area with sun-loungers and umbrellas for hire and picnic benches plus nice covered cafe bar area.
